I don't think this is what they meant

This week's CHBM prompt is

"Things you've done to get that special hard to find toy"
Gee, all I can say is -- I pouted.

I still hear horror stories about my Mom and Aunt going out on Black Friday in search for a Cabbage Patch Kid not only for me, but for my little sister and my cousin. I think my Mom and Aunt even got into an argument with another woman in the May Co. Department Store over the dolls.

I don't even know how old I was. But it was in the CPK hay day when they first came out and were going for over $100 a pop.

Our femme trio was pretty spoiled.

Fortunately for my family, my sister and I still have our dolls. Amara is the proud 'mommy' of one of them! She's even adopted another one of her own!

But I don't have any war stories from inside Toys 'R Us. Luckily, Amara's not old enough to ask for Butterscotch...

  1. I went our yesterday and got the rest of Beanie's xmas presents. I actually thought of getting her a CBK but figured you still had some of yours. I had 9 at one point! Good times! Good times!

  2. Hahah, I remember the fracas over those Cabbage Patch Kids back in the early 80s. I was about 11 or 12 when they were so popular, but I never asked for one. My 6 year old stepsister got one named "Callie Joni" of all things.
