I swore I never would be one of those parents.

You know the type. The ones who scramble at the last second because of a forgotten science project. Or a Easter basket that has yet to be assembled the night before.

But it happened.

It was inevitable.

I've fallen into a Bunco playing, Girl Scout leading, PTA mom. Why not add procrastinator to the list?

But I wasn't proocrastinating really.

Amara got home from school and mentioned that she needed pictures of items that began with "c".

There was no note frm the teacher. And I assumed no educator would trust a kindergartener with an assignment given verbally, right?

And that's when I remembered Teacher2Amara had a website.

The site is not mobile friendly. So checking from my Crackberry would be fruitless.

Of course, that night Dad2Amara was teaching so I couldn't use his phone as an air card.

And honestly, there's no RSS feed so I admittantly forget to check it. But I digress.

Back to her homework.

Dad2Amara gets home but I again forget to check the website because One Tree Hill was on (poor Brooke).

When I finally get around to logging on, I discover that not only was Amara right. But her "c" pictures were due that day. So now my daughter's homework is late.

Yet that's not our only problem.

I took a sick day Friday. And that meant an entire day on the sofa reading magazines. Which meant all of the magazines in the apartment were distributed to various friends on Monday.

Amara only choice of magazines to flip through were Dad2Amara's. He's a Civil War buff.

So there we sat. Ripping magazine pages after 10 o'clock in the evening.

Amara found a cannon. And a compass.

I found a Confederate flag. But I decided against proposing that one.

I became one of those moms. I scurried last minute.

And all I could come up with is a Confederate flag.

  1. Happens to the best of us. I'm dreading science projects & dioramas. I'll trade places - PT for homework. You in?
