just call me speedracer

It was inevitable.

In my previous life, I know I was Danica Patrick's counterpart. Just probably not as thin.

But since becoming Mom2Amara, there hasn't been a time I've gone 5 miles over the speed limit.

Or so I thought.

Dad2Amara received some interesting mail yesterday. I had a feeling I knew what it was so I opened the letter. (Please don't tell the U.S. Postal Service about it...I think that's a felony to check out another person's mail.) I figured Dad2Amara was up for a good ribbing.

It was a ticket. The violation? Going 36 in a 25 mph zone. The car was caught by a radar speed camera.

Ha ha ha, I snickered. Aside from my two block trek from the freeway to my parking lot, I rarely drive in the city. So I knew it was going to be fun laughing at my husband.

But it's Dad2Amara who had the last laugh. Because when I looked at the photo of the vehicle, it wasn't his black car.

It was the white Mom-mobile.

Effing-a.

I looked at the date and time of the offense.

Yup, I remember the day. I had gotten lost when a detour was set up on my way to DadAmara's office. I was in an unfamiliar neighborhood, rushing so I could make a meeting at work. I don't think I ever once saw a speed limit sign.

Then I looked at the fine.

Guess I won't be treating myself to much anytime soon.

I'm out 100 bucks because I got lost.

Fabulous.

Now Dad2Amara has nicknamed me "speedracer."

  1. Been there. Because my car is registered in my husband's name - he had the pleasure of opening my red light camera ticket.
    Fun times!

  4. Hey Speed! I try to be conscious of my speed too when driving in & around town, but sometimes things (I mean kids) distract you OR you just want to get there faster b/c it's too too loud and kids are going crazy. Bummer that could have been a new pair of shoes!

  8. This sounds like something I would do. Complete with the teasing my husband then finding out it was actually my ticket.
