sprung

It was a beautiful weekend in Cleveland. The sun was shining. And the bulbs in the front yards were blooming.

But I spent the last two days inside. Now I'm sprung.

One of the rites of spring at House2Amara is an annual deep clean.

Now, I pride myself on having a spotless home. But with Amara, Dog2Amara, and an afterschool schedule packed so tightly there's hardly room to breathe, I'll admit the Grey House sometimes gets to be a bit hairy. As in dog hair. Or messy. As in Amara-just-got-home-and-tossed-her-bookbag-onto-the-landing-and-everything-has-spilled-out.

We had no plans. So I pounced on the opportunity.

Proudly, may I invite you to feast off the top of my fridge? Or how about grabbing a glass of vino and popping a squat on my polished hardwood floors?

Yes, it's that clean.

I lifted furniture.

I gave my rugs a good beating.

I even took everything out of the kitchen cupboards, washed down the cabinets and shelves, and then reorganized everything.

Surprisingly, I cleaned nearly everything on the first floor with an environmentally friendly solution. Guess I couldn't stomach the thought of my food touching countertops scrubbed by a whole bunch of chemicals.

My favorite mix? Simply putting 2 teaspoons of vinegar with a quart of warm water.

But then I learned to grind ice with some orange juice in my garbage disposal to freshen it.

And who knew mixing half a cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of liquid soap can clean a sink up pretty well?

I'm a happy camper home owner. Just tired. But if you're interested in admiring the fruits of my labor, come on by. I'll have a glass - from my organized kitchen cabinets - waiting for you.

  1. I'm envious of all of your motivation to get your Spring cleaning done! I need to do the same thing! :) I would love to come over for a glass of wine.
    Hugs!

  2. I need to do a good spring cleaning over here too. I can't wait for it to warm up just a bit more so I can open up the windows to air out the house while doing so.

  3. Yolanda, you can come over anytime!

2w2t, I love having the windows opened! But this up and down weather we've been having is like a big tease!

  4. I wish I could clean that well! It took me four days just to clean the playroom, and its STILL a disaster! (Partly because every time I get some of it cleaned, the girls go in and mess it up more!)
By the way, my blog has moved because I couldn't afford Typepad any more! I am now at http://slow-down-gym-shoe.blogspot.com.
