It's De-Lovely And Delicious

There's The Star Spangled Banner and the Party Rock Anthem. And of course there's simply The Anthem (You know I could never forget Pitbull).

These songs belong to everyone. The Star Spangled Banner inspires patriotism. LMFAO motivates even the plainest of wallflowers to start shufflin' shufflin' shufflin'.

But I think everyone needs their own individual anthem. Who doesn't need a song that drowns out reality?

Yet I truly believe this song can change at a moment's notice. Every time life throws me a curve ball, my anthem changes. Music is magical. It can transport me to a place safe from my emotions. I can play my anthem in endless loops and truly believe its lyrics were written just for me. I mean, the artist performing must be my BFF because she's singing about my life, right?

My anthems go back all the way to grade school. I attended St. Mary's School, and my best friend, Molly, and I were obsessed with this song. Perhaps it proves girls in Catholic School uniforms are really more fun.
C'mon girls, let's go show the guys that we know how to become number one in a hot party show
Move ahead a few years to high school. This perfectly sums up how I feel about my teen years even today.
And as the bombshells of my daily fears explode, I try to trace them to my youth
Then college hit. And boys cheated.
And I'm here to remind you of the mess you left when you went away
But I forgot all about the boys when I would go to my favorite college bar. Oye.
I'm not big on social graces. Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Then love would take over. On a boat.
Lift your open hand. Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance, silver moon's sparkling
Then at the altar.
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose, it touches my foolish heart
I became a big girl, in the real world. I was working in the field in which I had always hoped to be. I was taken to the ball and later found out the glass slipper fit.
Great bird, with your golden dreams, flying high, flying high
And with all of its ups..
Can't promise tomorrow, but I'll promise tonight
...and downs, life was always full of surprises...
It took all the strength I had but I crawled up on my feet again
...and this.
You're even perfect when you cry
Which brings me to today.

Some days I'm really really bitter. Others I'm humbled and grateful. But through it all, I still believe that there is one single song that will always encompass my life. I have loved it from the moment I first heard its melody. I smile. I feel like myself. It's a groove I do deeply dig. And deep down, I think I want to be Lady Miss Kier. It's my succotash wish.

So tell me, what's your anthem? What song was made just for you?
