surf's up

...but it's left me and Amara behind! That's OK though because see that gorgeous waterfall? Amara and I got to swim near it! But more on that later...

First up -- Dole Plantation, home to Hawaii's "complete pineapple experience."

I hate to admit it, but I actually learned a lot there! Education and vacation mixing?!?!

Next stop -- Oahu's North Shore, known for its great surf.

Here, Amara got her first taste of shave ice. For a grammar freak like me, it drives me nutty that there's no "d" at the end of "shave." Bean didn't enjoy her blue raspberry shave ice, but Mom2Amara sure did! I also bought my birthday gift to myself (yes, I have bought several but this is my first purchase here in Hawaii) at North Shore Swimwear. I cannot wait to show it off back home!
And to end the day, Aunt2Amara took us to the Waimea Valley Audubon Center. It was gorgeous!

See the two specks at the bottom left hand corner of the picture? That's Mom2Amara and Bean! Amara was so upset though...she wanted to go into the waterfall, but when park officials told me it was 20 feet deep underneath, I was like oh no!

It was amazing how many animals were free there at the park...including this peacock in the parking lot!

It was a great day. I just can't believe we're half way thru our vacation already!

  1. We did the Dole thing too when we were there ... and it's surprising how much you learn about pinnapples!

  2. You look like you're having so much fun (even though you didn't post any pics of YOURSELF!!!)!

  3. Some great photos! TFS
It's clear you're having a spectacular time; relaxing, exploring and even learning! :)
