Tonight was completely a defining moment in being Mom2Amara. We've hit a milestone in Amara's childhood.

My daughter can write her name!

I picked Amara up from the babysitter's this afternoon. And as we were walking to the blue mom-mobile, I noticed some sidewalk art. And there, written in chalk, was Amara's name.

When we got home, I asked Amara who wrote her name and she said she did. Dad2Amara and I didn't believe her. So I grabbed a marker and a piece of paper and the above picture is the end result. How cool is that?

You can see her concentrating so hard, forming each letter just right. It's simply precious!
today's good: I got home and slept on the sofa for two hours. Oops.
today's bad: Did I mention I'm in a shoe drought? I can't seem to find a pair that I like. Or the stores don't have my size. Grrrr.

  1. That is totally cool! My little one recently wrote her name as well. It was a complete shock to me; I didn't know she could do that!

  2. Yay!!! Way to go Bean! Lucky for her that her last name is not so hard as her soon-to-be-cousin's. Hass.. no, Hasank... Hasenku... how do you spell your last name again Mariel??! :)

  3. Congratulations Amara! Today, Sidwewalk Art...tomorrow, the World! So proud of her!

  4. Just wait til she writes "I love you mommy"... that's the next crying proud monumental moment! Congrats of writing your own name, Amara! BTW - Got the present today, made Maya very happy before she got to school.

  5. CONGRATS! That is fantastic!! I have to say... I love your blog! It is written so well and you can just see the love you have for your daughter! It's awesome. You have a regular visitor in me!
