motherhood's irony

I always detect a hint of sarcasm in my voice when I say "day off." Seriously, I scoff. A mom's day off is always filled with work.

After a long weekend out of town, I took today and tomorrow off.

I have a conference call scheduled for later today. Some day away from the office! And I figured I'd check my work email from home. But of course my secret way into the system must have been found out so now my access is blocked. Damn. I'm sure everyone is getting bounced-back-mailbox-full responses by now. Guess I'll have to talk to the IT guys after all.

And I need to catch up all of my motherly duties around the house. Pick up the mail. Do laundry. Clean the house. Mop the floors. Schedule playdate promised to Amara two weeks ago. Organize the swag from BlogHer. Not to mention my thighs are screaming to hit the gym since all they've really done the last four days is absorb all the alcohol, coffee, and carb-licious baked goods I've had I haven't worked out since BB (before BlogHer).

So I vow to hit everything on my to do list before I turn the laptop back on. If you don't hear from me in a few days, call the National Guard.

  1. EVERYTHING on the list? I would never be heard from again!
