my daughter's not my friend

It's been a difficult week. (I'll explain later.)

And Amara hasn't made it any easier.

While out and about yesterday, we walked past an Au Bon Pain. Amara asked for a cookie. And I was all too happy to oblige.

I mean, I would of course, get a bite of her treat.

Or so I thought.

Amara decided she would not share the baked good that I paid for. And she made her intentions of being completely selfish known to the entire restaurant.

After threats a stern lecture, Amara seemed to be on the path of sharing again.

But then today, she snatched her Disney Princess throw from my feet. Amara declared she would not share her blanket with me.

Shortly after, she said she was no longer my friend.

So I did what no mom should: I told my daughter two could play that game. I told her she couldn't share the Yellow House with us.

Evil. I know.

But Amara took me off guard.

I thought children started to hate their parents' existence after puberty.

I didn't expect it now.

And I didn't know how to react.

So now I must find a new home for my daughter. ((smile))

Any takers? :)

  1. You're funny. But I shouldn't laugh (too hard). I think E-man's already got some of these traits. I can't wait to see the reaction to the new baby! YIKES!

  2. I've been there! You should read Love & Logic Magic - When Children Leave You Speechless. Some great tips that you could try. I'm discovering though, that kids are smarter than we are. :)

  3. Amara cracks me up! I don't know if I can take her...highmaintenancebaby is keeping my hands very full!

  4. Check out what my girlfriend did after her daughter said that she wished that they could eat more fun food for dinners instead of her 4 course meals that she always made (I long to live at her house)... she set up her garage with a card table, chair, microwave and little fridge with hotdogs and bread. And that's where the daughter ate for 3 days until she learned her lesson. Garage meals suck!

  5. Your response to her made me crack up!!

  6. I love it! I'm surprised the response didnt include "Grandma2Amara wants me!!!" hahaha

I'd take her but she'd have to share the bed with me, Brett and his dog!

  7. Sunshine - Amara may be living in the garage if she keeps this up!

  8. Jaci - Yeah, she told me a few days ago that Grandma2Amara is more fun than me. Good luck finding sanity in that house, Amara! :)
