my heart was broken on Valentine's Day

I ran the gamut of emotions on this year's holiday of love and lust.

Breaking up may be hard to do. But in the end, I was left utterly devastated.

The day began with Amara, Dad2Amara, and I exchanging cards and little trinkets signifying our love for each other.

I was still sore from my first day back at work, so I vowed to stay "just a few hours."

Yeah right.

Once at work, I enjoyed candy, cupcakes, and ice cream. And that was before the catered breakfast and heart shaped pizzas.

Life was good. Or so I thought.

The very life I was celebrating was slipping from Great-grandma2Amara's grip.

My family was called to rush to her bedside.

But it was too late.

Great-grandma2Amara was taken away, holding a Barbie Valentine made by Amara.

It feels as if my heart literally sank to my toes so that it can be trampled upon by my size 9 winter boots.

Rest in peace, Great-grandma2Amara.

We love you.
