what’s wrong with sugar cookies?

I love cookies.

Typically I enjoy the dough more than the cookie. But this time of year, I’m all about Snickerdoodles and Mexican wedding cookies. I’ll do the peanut butter bars. There isn’t a cookie I don’t like.

Yet it looks like someone in my neighborhood despises sugar cookies.

This article showed up in my newspaper Thanksgiving morning. Seriously.

House robbed, thief takes Tupperware of cookies
[The city where we live] apparently has its own Cookie Monster.

A woman told police that someone stole four large Tupperware containers of cookies from her enclosed back porch, according to a police report. They were kept there in order to keep them cool, the report indicates.

Only the sugar cookies remained when the resident returned to the cookies yesterday morning. She last saw them at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

“It should be noted that the cookies taken were homemade and cost over $75 in ingredients, as the pecans alone are $4 per pound,” according to the report, which also stated, “a check of the area on foot revealed no sign of the cookies or the containers.”
I suppose I shouldn’t profess my love for cookies too much. They might suspect me of taking the containers of goodies.

Do you have a favorite holiday cookie? Is there one thing your sweet tooth craves this time of year?

  1. I love mexican wedding cookies! We usually make chocolate covered pretzel rods to give to neighbors - sweet & salty! I love them all except for the fruity filled cookies...not very fond of those. I hope the "cookie monster" got sick from eating all those cookies - what a grinch!

  2. What are mexican wedding cookies??? I love Christmas cookies - especially my Aunt Mary's sugar cookies and press cookies.

  3. This is too funny, thanks for sharing! I thought this post was going to be about nutrition and sugar but this is even better!

  4. I love the sugar cookies big time too! And yes - those Mexican wedding cookies are heavenly.
